Committees

MRTA Standing Committees

MRTA’s work is carried out through five standing committees, each focused on a specific area of advocacy, education, and member service. Committee chairs are elected members of the board who lead efforts on behalf of all Missouri retired educators.

Membership Committee

Chair: Idella Warden
Focused on growing and retaining MRTA membership across all 14 regions throughout Missouri.

Legislative Committee

Chair: Randy McClain
Monitors legislation affecting retired educators’ pensions and develops the annual MRTA Legislative Platform.

Retirement Education Committee

Chair: Mike Jarvis
Provides educational resources for local unit meetings and connects members with PSRS/PEERS, NRTA, and Social Security resources.

Community Impact Committee

Chair: Cheryl Adams
Coordinates community service and volunteer activities statewide, including charitable giving and programs such as Box Tops for Education.

Communications Committee

Chair: Dr. Gale “Hap” Hairston
Produces educational handouts on consumer protection, fraud prevention, and cybersecurity awareness for local unit meetings statewide.
