Legislative Update - ESSER III Funds
February 18, 2022
There has been some movement on HB 3014, the Governor's supplemental budget bill. The legislation was voted out of the House last week by a vote of 114-11 and is now on its way to the Senate for consideration and approval.
This legislation would appropriate the $1.9 billion in federal ESSER III funding to school districts. These funds need to be appropriated as soon as possible to allow the funds to be used to provide a safe return to school, address learning loss, and help students recover from the impact of the pandemic.
As a reminder, the ESSER III funding was approved by Congress last year. If the funds are not used by March 24th, they will be returned and split among the other 49 states.
While this is a very important issue, we are not yet asking you to write your Senator, but please stay alert on this and other important issues.
