Join Us for MRTA Legislative Day

Why Attend?

Your presence is crucial! Join us in advocating for our pensions and public education by attending MRTA Legislative Day and visiting your legislators. Your voice is a powerful statement in safeguarding the future of Missouri's public education and our pensions. Stand with us to protect the interests of our students, school employees, and retirees, as we work towards securing the strength of Missouri's education retirement systems. Your attendance on MRTA Legislative Day is not just a personal commitment; it is a collective effort to shape policies that impact us all. We believe that your active participation will make a meaningful difference, and we look forward to standing together on February 11th.

MRTA is also pleased to offer a complimentary trolley shuttle service for all members attending Legislative Day. The shuttle will run continuously from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., (we are looking at expanding this to at least 12:30 p.m.) departing from the Capitol Mall (Dillard’s parking lot). This convenient service allows attendees to avoid the hassle of limited parking at the Capitol and eliminates the need to walk long distances. Take advantage of this free and stress-free transportation option as we gather to make our voices heard!

Important Notes:

•   Please allocate ample time for parking and Capitol entry.

•  The security check may take 5 to 30 minutes, similar to airport security.

•  Dress appropriately and leave nonessential items in your car trunk.

•  Identification is NOT required.

Unable to Attend?

You can still actively take part in Legislative Day by writing your legislators! MRTA will send a Call-to-Action email (and text to those signed up for Phone2Action) on February 11th. We urge you to act as soon as you receive the email. MRTA will provide a pre-drafted message for you to send to your legislators. All you have to do is add your information, add a personal touch, and hit send!

This meeting will be presided by MRTA President Dr. Gale “Hap” Hairston and will feature several dynamic and engaging speakers, as well as some fun activities and even some time to socialize. The Details

All MRTA members are invited to attend but anyone in leadership on MRTA unit, regional, or state levels are highly encouraged to attend. 


Cost 

A *$55 nonrefundable registration fee must accompany each Summit registration; or you may submit a NEW  MEMBER $44 membership with your Summit registration form.  

*Discount - Early Bird Registration is $44 and includes a goody bag for all attendees. To qualify for the discount, you must register by February 28th.

Deadline for Summit Registration - March 15th.

Meals

Light refreshments will be provided at all times.
Lunch will be served at noon on March 19th.
Dinner will be served on the evening of March 19th with reception to follow. 
Breakfast will be provided on March 20th .
Lunch will be provided on March 20th.


Lodging 

In order to expedite the registration process, attendees will need to book their own hotel accommodations.  Lodging can be reserved by calling 573-442-6400 using code 25MRTA.

Deadline for Lodging Requests - February 14th.   Lodging cannot be guaranteed after this date.  Please be aware we are opening up the opportunity for lodging to all MRTA members on February 3rd.

Expense Reimbursement 

Per MRTA Board Policy, we will only reimburse  attendees who are current paid MRTA members.

MRTA will reimburse approved attendees for one night of lodging per Unit or per Board Member and 27.5 cents per mile for three or more attendees per car OR provide a gas receipt.  Carpooling is encouraged and will be coordinated by your Regional Vice President.

You will receive an expense reimbursement form at the Summit.
