GOOD MORNING MRTA Members!!! With just two weeks of the legislative session to go, things are moving very quickly at the State Capitol. Session ends May 15th at 6:00 pm. Please stay tuned and respond quickly. THE WORLD IS RUN BY THOSE WHO SHOW UP!
HJR 34 - TABOR is on the Senate Calendar to be debated on the Senate Floor and possibly voted on. We need MRTA members to write their Senator for a NO vote as this will hurt public education funding. HSC/SCS/SB 172 was voted out of the House yesterday. It has several amendments that the Senate must now consider. MRTA is pushing for passage of three of those amendments:
- Divorce popup reform HB 1086 - Lair
- Strengthening of 550 hour Work After Retirement law HB 1085 - Lair
- 2.55 after 31 years HB 478 - Fitzwater and Wallingford
VERY GOOD JOB MRTA MEMBERS for answering our "Call To Actions" earlier this week and getting these bills out of the House of Representatives. So now MRTA needs to contact their State Senators on five bills to date: All these bills are awaiting Senate action.

Our priorities are full funding of the Foundation Formula, 2.55 after 31 years (HB 478), divorce popup for education retirees (HB 1086) and strengthening the 550 hour law regarding Work After Retirement (HB 1085) for retired educators.
