Dear MRTA Members:

THANK YOU FOR "SHOWING UP" as your pension system and benefits are intact because of your hard work.

I am very pleased to report that SB 842  (Senator Lamping STL CO sponsor) died on the Senate Calendar as the Legislative Session ended at 6:00 p.m. today.  SB 842 was an effort to take over the decision-making process of the PSRS/PEERS Systems Board of Trustees and hand it over to the Legislature. Killing this legislation protected possible future COLA increases.

You were also instrumental in killing several other pieces of legislation of which you were asked to contact your legislator and express your opposition.  They were:

- HB 1740 (Representative Dieckhaus STL CO sponsor) dealing with vouchers, tenure, charter schools, teacher salaries, etc. - died in Rules Committee.

- SB 806 dealing with tenure (Senator Cunningham STL CO sponsor) - died on calendar.

- HB 1526 dealing with tenure and reduction in force provisions(Representative Dieckhaus STL CO Sponsor) died on Senate calendar.

You have proven once again there is "strength in numbers."  You have truly made a difference. CONGRATULATIONS!!

Every educator, retired or active, is very grateful for your tireless efforts.

You make me very proud!!

THANK YOU for being counted as a member of MRTA.

MRTA works to protect your retirement benefits and to enhance the quality of life for ALL Missouri education retirees - present and future.
